Ralph Lauren just unveiled the new on-court uniforms and commemorative collection that fans can shop, and the selection is what tenniscore dreams are made of.
Pieces in the commemorative line consist of jackets, graphic tees (with some featuring the adorable Polo teddy bear) and shorts with US Open and tennis-themed logos throughout in men’s, women’s and children. Plus a selection of sporty styles that look good on and off the court, including striped fleece cricket sweaters and terry dresses, fusing refined silhouettes with sporty touches.
If you want to put your own take on the commemorative pieces, Ralph Lauren has customizable graphics available online and on-site at the tournament where customers can create personalized Polo apparel and accessories.
Add the perfect finishing touch to your look in the stands with new sunglasses in Havana colorways featuring the Pony player and US Open logos (Ralph Lauren is also the event’s Official Sunglass Sponsor). Everything’s available to shop online at ralphlauren.com, and at the US Open and at select Polo Ralph Lauren shops throughout the duration of the tournament (which starts on Monday, August 29 and ends Sunday, September 11).
Also available to buy are the 2022 uniforms that will be worn by over 250 on-court officials and 400 ball crew members. This year Ralph Lauren played with abstract lines of the tennis court as a print across the pieces, which come in navy with pops of orange and green. Going the extra mile, all ball crew Polo shirts are made from yarn created from recycled plastic bottles, plus, Ralph Lauren teamed with Wilson again to ensure at the end of the tournament, Wilson tennis balls are collected to be used in future fabric production. In 2021, over over 540 pounds of ball cans were manufactured into high-quality yarn. Talk about a winning match!
This year’s tournament is already one for the record books after Serena Williams announced earlier this week that she’s retiring from tennis sometime after the 2022 US Open. Over her storied career, Williams has earned 23 Grand Slam singles titles and 14 Grand Slam doubles titles alongside her sister, Venus Williams.
She wrote in an op-ed that she doesn’t like the term “retiring,” instead, she described it as an “evolution.”
“I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me,” she explained.
