TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi expressed his support to the phenomenon of SCBD (Sudirman, Citayam, Bojonggede, Depok) teenagers in Dukuh Atas, Central Jakarta. According to the president, the Citayam Fashion Week is part of children's creativity.
"As long as it doesn't violate the rules. That's creative, such creativity, why should it be banned? As long as it doesn't violate the rules," said the president at Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Saturday, July 23.
He asked not to make a fuss of this phenomenon, saying that as long as the activities are positive, he would fully support it. "I don't think it's a big deal as long as it's positive. Don't make it big, such positive activities must be supported," said Jokowi.
The Citayam Fashion Week in Dukuh Atas is the phenomenon created by the teenagers from Citayam, Depok and Bojonggede, Bogor, who often hangout in the Dukuh Atas area, Central Jakarta.
Such a term emerged as the teenagers who hang out in the location often wear street data-style clothing until it went viral on social media.
When Tempo visited Dukuh Atas on Thursday, July 14, dozens of teenagers were seen gathered together in the area with each of their groups, donning street data-style attires. Some wore a loose hoodie, hat, jeans jacket with large embroidery, headband, hat, folded sideways jeans, or simply with sunglasses over the forehead.
Their street fashion looks do attract people's attention. Even some photographers, both professional and amateur, are competing to take pictures of their style. They did not hesitate to ask the SCBD teenagers to pose, such as crossing a zebra cross against the background of a tall building or simply asking them to walk on the sidewalk, and in an expressive style. Teenagers as models are also not ashamed to be stylish.
Besides, teenagers from various regions also come to hang out with their friends at the park behind the back entrance of BNI Dukuh Atas MRT Station. Some just hang out by the sidewalk eating street foods. Several creators also make content about this phenomenon.
