The city’s emergency management chief emerged from his Brooklyn home Tuesday morning and headed to work amid utter confusion at City Hall about his future.

Joseph Esposito, wearing an Office of Emergency Management jacket, was picked up by a driver, also wearing an OEM jacket, in a black SUV around 7:30 a.m. About a half-hour later, he walked into the city agency’s headquarters in downtown Brooklyn.

When asked by a Post reporter to comment on the tumultuous situation after being abruptly “fired” Friday by a deputy mayor, Esposito responded: “You have to talk to the mayor about that. He’ll give you your best answer.”

Before entering work, Esposito told another reporter that he should “listen” to Mayor Bill de Blasio’s 3 p.m. press conference if he wants answers.

When asked if he would be attending that afternoon press conference at NYPD headquarters, Esposito said, “I don’t think so. I haven’t been notified.”

Esposito was axed on Friday by Deputy Mayor Laura Anglin after a heated meeting over the city’s response to last month’s 6-inch snowstorm that caused a commuter disaster in the Big Apple.

He went to work anyway Monday because he never got confirmation from de Blasio, sources said, setting off a day of management chaos at City Hall.

Late Monday, the de Blasio administration put out a statement saying that “we have started the process of leadership change” regarding Esposito’s position at OEM.

“Commissioner Joe Esposito will continue to lead OEM as we conduct a national search for his successor,” the statement said, giving no reason for his future exit.

When Esposito was asked Tuesday if he felt he had been treated unfairly or used as a scapegoat, he said: “Listen, things happen. You know how things go.”

He added that he was “feeling great” and that it was a “great morning.”
