NAPLES, Fla. — A Naples man was found guilty of attacking a woman after she refused to take off a sweatshirt he loaned her.

Juan Toro, 30,  was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a two-day trial in Collier County.

On August 29, 2020, Collier County deputies responded to a home in reference to a disturbance with a gun.

Toro had been at a party and got into a verbal argument with a woman demanding her to take off a sweatshirt he let her borrow. When the woman refused, Toro pushed her into a glass display and hit her in the head many times, with a gun, while threatening to shoot her.

Before deputies arrived, Toro took off but was later apprehended with the help of the victim and another witness.

His sentencing is scheduled for June 15.
