Popular fast food chain Nando's recently launched a fashion range, including shirts, socks, and bucket hats that change colour according to the wearer's body temperature. The clothing is selling fast but isn't available in South Africa.

Nando's, which was founded in South Africa 35 years ago, is best known for its flame-grilled peri-peri style chicken and edgy marketing. Now, the brand has entered the fashion world with the launch of its "Extra Hot" fashion range.

The "Extra Hot Drop" was announced via social media on 31 August, and the limited-edition items have been selling out fast.

The range features clothing in colourways associated with Nando's spice levels, namely lemon and herb, medium, hot, and extra hot. The short sleeve tees and sweatshirts have already sold out, according to Nandos' online store, while the remaining socks, long sleeve tees, and bucket hats are selling fast.

The range is made with thermochromic dye, which, according to Nando's, allows the clothing to "change as your body temperature rises and falls." The clothing changes colour within the temperature range of 0 to 70 degrees Celsius.

But despite the fast-food chicken brand being founded in South Africa, the new range of clothing is exclusive to the United Kingdom. Prices range from £15.00 (R298) for a pair of "Extra Hot" socks to £50.00 (R993) for a sweatshirt.

Nando's in South Africa confirmed to Business Insider SA that its UK brand had "dropped a seasonal tactical merchandising drop" but that "at this stage, the campaign is confined to the UK only."

Nando's didn't respond to questions regarding the potential of the "Extra Hot" range – or similar clothing projects – launching in South Africa.
