Gucci Mane is now denouncing a recent trend of dissing dead people on songs that has become popular for some Hip Hop artists.

On Thursday (July 28), the East Atlanta rapper released his newest song “Dissin the Dead,” which has him calling out the referencing of fallen opposition on tracks. Tapping ATL Jacob, Akachi, DJ Plugg, TM88, TooDope and Sonickaboom for the single, Gucci didn’t waste time in making his point.

"Why should I cap 'bout my name on a song? / I'm the one put your boy name on a stone,” raps Gucci, acknowledging his own history of speaking on the dead in his music. “I dissed the dead and I knew it was wrong / But I'm shooting like DaBaby if they break in my home.”

On the hook, Gucci continued his self reflection in hopes of changing his peer’s behavior.

"I know my tongue is a sword, I know I should be more careful with s**t that I said / I feel like I started a trend that's never gon' stop, they gon' keep dissing the dead," he raps. "None of this shit no pretend, this s**t so for real, a n***a get shot in the head / Young n***a wicked on pills and going on drills, we need to stop dissing the dead."

On his second verse, Gucci Mane deems himself a leader.

"I don't preach to no one, I just lead by example / When I was a jit, I thought life was a gamble," he raps. "You catch a charge now your life is in shambles / Daddy in jail but your son need them pampers / You telling the cops 'cause you giving 'em clues / Your face on the news just to get you some views / Watch the s**t now that you say in the booth."

Most recently, Lil Durk has become known for rapping about opps who were killed, however he has promised not to do so anymore. Gucci himself was infamous for his 2012 track “The Truth” where Guwop brought up Jeezy’s dead affiliate Pookie Loc, whom Gucci killed during a home invasion in 2005.
