Detectives have released footage of a man suspected of a brutal bus stop knife attack, which left an 18-year-old fighting for his life in hospital.

The teenager was found with several stab wounds in Westwood Hill, Crystal Palace, at 7.12pm on Monday.

He was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

The Met has now released CCTV footage of officers’ prime suspect casually walking moments before the savage attack.

It shows a man in a black hoody, black tracksuit bottoms and a face mask calmly strolling along Kirkdale in Sydenham, Lewisham.

Det Insp Spencer Thomas said: “We have released footage of a person we are keen to trace.

“The footage was captured in Kirkdale, Sydenham, just before the incident.

“A young man was stabbed – and seriously injured – in broad daylight at a bus stop. I would urge anyone who witnessed this assault to contact us.

“I would also ask that anyone who was driving in the vicinity and has a dash cam to check the footage to see whether they captured something that could help our investigation.

“Any piece of information, whether you think it might be insignificant or not, could be vital.”

Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the area, and who has yet to speak with police, to come forward.
