RICHMOND, Ky. — Kentucky State Police want the public’s help in tracking down a suspect wanted in connection with the murder of Jordan Morgan, daughter of former state Rep. C. Wesley Morgan.

23-year-old Shannon Gilday allegedly forced his way into a home on Willis Branch Road in Madison County early Tuesday morning armed with a rifle.

KSP allege Gilday shot Jordan Morgan while she slept. The investigation says Gilday confronted homeowner when the pair exchanged gunshots. The homeowner was hit, but the wounds are not life threatening. Gilday reportedly left the scene in a white car.

Gilday is considered armed and dangerous. He is wanted on charges of murder, burglary, criminal mischief, assault and two counts of attempted murder.

State police told Spectrum News 1 it isn’t clear if Morgan was the intended target. Sergeant Robert Purdy said if the homeowner had not fired at Gilday, “… we could be talking about more fatalities.”

KSP says Gilday is approximately 6 feet tall, 167 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Surveillance video showed him wearing a camouflage or tactical-style jacket and pants, a dark-colored hoodie sweatshirt, gloves and a light colored facemask. Police believe Gilday is driving a White 2016 Toyota Corolla with minor damage to the front grill, and a license plate of 379-VMJ.

Do not approach the vehicle or attempt to contact the driver for safety reasons. KSP urges anyone with additional information about the investigation to call KSP Post 7 at 859-623-2404.
